Things you need to know before losing weight.

Certain rules do not apply when you are trying to lose the extra pound. You first need to know that everyone is different with different metabolism. For instance, if Miss Jane lost 3 stone in 3 weeks, there is a possibility that your body might not go through the same pace in losing 1 stone in 6 weeks.

The first homework for you is to understand your body and know how it works. Take time to understand your body and how far it could be stretched. You need to ask yourself if you are truly ready to commit to the challenge ahead.

Below are few home truth about losing weight and what you need to know before starting getting on the train.

  1. Losing the extra pound is good for you, but, more importantly maintaining a healthy weight and choosing to a healthy lifestyle top the list.
  2.  People have different numbers of fat cells in their body.  Fat cells develop during childhood and stop around adolescence. Some people have more than others and it does not matter if you lost or gain weight, fat cells are just like other cells, they do grow and multiply and they are important in supporting the immune system.
  3.  It is also important to know that the more you gain, the harder it is to lose. Knowing when to start is necessary and sticking to it is much more important.
  4. Peer influence does influence your weight gain. If people you hang with do not care much about their weight gain, you are more likely to gain more and lose less. You need to be around people that encourage you in every stage of your journey. You also need to know that dieting is not fashion. Putting your body through unnecessary stress is uncalled for.
  5. Some foods are addictive. These kind of food are usually the type with high calories and sugar content. You might want to think of reducing the intake of processed and high fat/sugar content food.
  6. In the book of losing weight, less is more. Portion reduction and a healthy replacement is the rule.
  7. It is okay to be”fat” and be happy. What is more important is your level of fitness. Not everyone is going to be size zero. Check your level of fitness and stick to a healthy weight.
  8. Choosing the type of diet to try can be daunting if you look at the different methods out there. Understand who you are before embarking on any. Whatever way you choose to lose weight, combining a healthy lifestyle, exercise and be truthful to your body needs is the only way to go.
  9. You also need to know that food is important to your health. Treat your body as a temple and fill the temple with the best. Reach out for the best, know what you eat.
  10.  Lack of sleep, stress and unhealthy way of living hinders the results of your weight loss programme. Research has shown that stress makes you reach for unhealthy food and stress hormones also encourage fat storage in your body. So you might want to relax and worry less about things you cannot change.
