Simple Crusty Cheese Bread

Who doesn’t like freshly baked bread?  Baking bread is not my favourite, I have always thought bread baking is time-consuming and has a hint of luck and a bit technical. However, there are loaves of bread that are easy to bake and not too technical. Some of these loaves of bread are banana bread and other tea bread.

I love quick and easy to cook foods, recipes that require less effort and foods that are delicious and healthy at the same time. Cooking healthy foods should not cost the earth and should be very simple at the same time.

I experimented with cheese bread which is as easy as ABC. It is delicious and very simple to make. It contains nutritious ingredients such as eggs, milk and cheese. It is great as a gift or as part of your guests’ menu. It can be frozen for later use, however, it is best served warm.

To make my simple crusty cheese bread, here is what you need:

Ingredients

Plain flour 250g

Sugar ( I used brown sugar) 55g

Salt  ( pinch)

1 Egg

Shredded Cheddar Cheese (grated) 125g

Milk 125ml

Oil (I used sunflower) 75ml

Baking powder 2 and a half teaspoons

Preheat the oven to 180C. Lightly grease the pan you intend to use and put to a side.

In a mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, baking powder, salt and cheese

Whisk your egg with milk and oil

Add the egg mixture and cheese mixture together and sift your flour over the mixture

Stir gently until moist.

Pour the mixture into the greased pan and bake for about 30 – 35 minutes until golden.

To check if your bread is fully done, insert a toothpick in the centre of your loaf if it comes out clean, your loaf is ready.

Cool for few minutes and enjoy.
